I'm pretty basic with the mashed potatoes. I add butter, milk, salt, pepper. Occasionally, I add garlic salt and herbs and sometimes some chicken powder or parmesan.

I've even used instant potatoes. :mwhistle:

My family loves mashed potatoes and are always requesting them. I add a bit of butter, some milk and some onion salt or a tad bit of garlic salt as well. When the chives are growing, I'll often add chives as well.

When dh and I were first married, I wanted to make a hit with my mashed potatoes. I liked to add a bit of paprika then and grabbed a jar from my cupboard. I sprinkled some on, not realizing it was cinnamon. My poor dh, he ate them anyways and still talks about the cinnamon potatoes. Since then, I always check the bottle first, before sprinkling it on anything.

I boil mine in chicken broth and add that broth to the potatoes when mashing--instead of milk. I also add a bit of butter, onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper. Yum. :)

We just go the traditional route here - milk, butter, salt and pepper.

Milk, butter, salt and pepper all smashed together with an old fashioned potato masher, gotta have those little chunks of taters in there, yum.

Salt, pepper, milk and butter for me. Nothing like left over mashed potatoes to make into patties and fry in bacon grease to go with eggs the next day. Pure Yum! Tracy.

Mostly just butter, milk, salt and pepper. I run mine through the foley's food mill. The use either the hand masher or electric mixer to make them a bit smoother.

If I want a change of pace, we'll add garlic or sour cream/cream cheese to the potatoes (especially if I'm using instant potatoes)

I do the above but put garlic cloves in with my potatoes when i boil them. For a treat I add cream cheese to my milk & butter that I warm up and hand mash together. Add fresh chives when in season.

pretty much just salt, milk & butter. However when I worked at Harrah's Cherokee Casino the ones we had were made with the skins on (red skinned ones) and they added garlic & parmesean cheese.....I loved them but never made my own that way.
