Even though many times its hard work and you never seem to stop, from morning until night, why do you think for many the homesteading lifestyle is so enjoyable? Why do you think so many more people are searching for the ideal location to move to, in order to set up homesteading and the simple life.

Thoughts?

I would say self-sufficiency, a feeling of accomplishment, a slower pace of life than being in the rat race, the thrill of growing your own veggies and fruits and animals, freedom to go barefoot and dig in the dirt, time to observe the cycle of life, simplicity, a connection with our forefathers, "time to stop and smell the roses", quiet and serenity, a desire to be closer to nature and God.

I agree with Dana. I want to work to live not live to work. :)

I agree ladies!

I love that feeling at the end of the day, especially after spending a whole day outside working around, having a hot shower and falling into bed tired....a good tired!! Such a sense of accomplishment and being proud of what I am achieving for my family.

I think as well in having this kind of lifestyle we see and hear the little things of nature where we wouldn't in such a fast paced environment.

I agree also.

I think many people have tried it the fast and furious way and found that it did not bring happiness and peace to their lives. Then they try the homestead way and find the quiet peace that comes from accomplishing something with your own 2 hands and seeing nature in all its glory, every day.

I think it might also have something to do with the economy. One might be unemplyed or under emplyed and take up this lifestyle. Once they have a taste of it, find it rewarding and a challenge on a more personal level. I like the fact that I have so much more control over food. What goes into things today is quite scary!

I agree. But most of all it's the peace and quite of the country. It's the satisfaction of accomlishment when you look out at what you've done. It's a feeling that is hard to discribe to someone that hasn't tried living off the grid. It has a lot to do with survival and the will to make do with what you have.

I don't want fancy cars or pick-ups that cost as much or more than a home and land. I don't want a job that takes away your soul (I've had those before) and leaves an empty shell behind. I don't want a home full of fancy furniture you can't sit on or use because it's for "company".

I have all I need...some would say that I don't. But I truely believe in my motto..."The Lord Will Provide"...and He has.
