Sitting here this evening, looking around the board....noticed the thread about baking bread and thought "Hmm...think I'll check and see if anyone has posted a new bread recipe". Then it hits me.....I put two loaves of bread in the oven (just on warm) to raise....6 hours ago!!!!
AAAACKKK!!!! Of course it has all fallen back on itself and gone sour....all that work down the drain!!! (Actually in the garbage can).
Oh, well......I'll try again tomorrow. Just had to whine to someone though!! Guess that's what I get for ordering pizza for dinner. If I would have made dinner at home, I would have found the bread sooner!!! ;)

Oh Farmgirl. That sounds just like something I would have done. I am forever putting laundry in and forgetting to turn it on or forgetting to turn on the dishwasher and I have even forgot to turn on the oven after putting food in it. Some days are just like that.....

It happens, Farmgirl! ((((HUGS)))) That could've been me, too. Sometimes I think it's a miracle I haven't burnt the house down with the number of times I've left something on! It's too bad my family doesn't like crispy cookies -- how many times have I turned the oven and timer off and left the cookies in...sure the oven's off and they're not burning to a crisp, but they are certainly crispy. The squirrels like it when i do that, though, as I toss the ones my family won't eat out to the back yard!

Hey that's what happens to the burned ones at our house too! :)

Lots of times I've forgotten about my loaves rising and they are sitting on the counter! Yours were at least out of sight, out of mind. What's my excuse? LOL I've started putting the timer on for the last rise so I don't forget. I even set the timer to allow time to preheat the oven. The loaves rose so high they were huge. Of course they aren't nice that way, all airy and crumbly. As frugal as we are, we ate them anyway. I sure wasn't happy, though.

That could have been me too, but I often forget its in the bowl rising. Yup, I've had the dough rise right over the top of the bowl and all over the cupboard. No excuse here either, other than I was probably on the boards. :mwhistle:

Shhhhhh, cj! That's when I burn stuff (when I'm on the boards) but it's my little secret around here! :shame: LOL!
