Is power loss a big deal with you? We have a generator for those unpleasant times. We live at the end of the county and if there is an ice storm, we are almost certain to loose power, sometimes for days. When Mel built the house, he had the wiring done so that we can plug the house into the generator. Of course not everything will run, but we can keep the refrigerator going and some lights and get water. He is very good about keeping gas on hand for the generator. He knows I panic when there is no power for a while.

Yes we have a generator. It would at least keep the fan and fridge going should the power be off for any length of time. My only concern would be not having heat seeing as we don't have a wood stove. Thats why we have the generator.

We have a generator, we used it soley for about 7 years. We have had city power for three years. DH wired our new house to accept either generator or the power company. We will be set if the power goes out. We will be on propane for heat, cook stove, water heater and clothes dryer, we also will have back up batteries with an inverter, to assist. We're still discussing the wood stove, I want a cook stove DH wants a box heater. We already have both, but can't use them yet.

I would like to have one since we have a long hurricane season (June through November). I would hate to lose everything in my freezer.

Yes, we have one that runs off a diesel tractor. It won't run everything, but will handle our furnace, well pump and refrigerator. During a power outage, you find out you can live without a lot!!! I too worry about losing a freezer full of food, so I'm glad it can power those things.....oh....and the coffee maker!!! In case of an emergency it's important to have those priorities in order!!!! :)
