I remember my grandparents using a perculator when I was young. We're big coffee drinkers here and I wonder if I picked up an old one at the thrift store, if I'd love or hate the coffee.

View Full Version : anyone still use perculators? smnoel 01-20-2004, 03:18 AM I remember my grandparents using a perculator when I was young. Although I don't use it eveyday. Although its easy to use, its not as easy as a drip. But the coffee is good, and much hotter than drip coffee. And the smell while it is perking is wonderful.. Old fashioned mamma 01-20-2004, 02:47 PM We have 2 of them and neither of us drink coffee. There from days gone by though and I hate to part with them. I remember when dh was drinking lots of coffee and he would use one. The smell was wonderful, especially first thing in the morning. I remember too thats all anyone ever used were those perculators. They are the best and when they are "burping", the sound is wonderful. Thats what us kids use to call it, "burping". SewCrafty 02-19-2004, 05:51 PM We have 2, the clear glass one is our everyday one. We went to it out of necessity. Jack and I are big coffee drinkers and the drip ones got clogged up all the time with our nasty hard water. So we switched to perked (on the stove not electric) over 20 years ago and never looked back! :D paelthom 02-19-2004, 06:03 PM At my office, we use an electric one but only to heat up the water. Only one guy here drinks coffee and he likes instant. :icon2: duckduckgoose007 03-26-2004, 03:50 AM At home we use a drip coffee maker. When we travel we have a 4 cup Perc pot...works great. Cozyquilter is right...it makes the coffee Hotter than a drip pot. |
