I was never really interested in goats until I visited Prairiemaid's farm and fell in love with them. Lets talk goats here.

~how many does the doe usually have?
~how long is she pregnant (is that the right word to use) before she gives birth?
~can they be raised outside
~can the babies be raised outside or do they have to remain inside for a period of time?
~how long do they drink their mother's milk
~how often do you have to clip their hooves or is it cut their hooves?
~why do they like nibbling on everything, including clothes
~are they easy to raise

For out goats (Boar Goats):
(according to Mel)
The average is 2 kids. They are preggie 5 months. As for the inside question it depends on the temps where you live. Goats are warm weather animals. The colder it is the more shelter they need. Ours are outside most of the time but we have a shelter available to them whenever they feel like it. We don't keep moms and babies in. They are free to come into the shelter or to stay out on the pasture. If the temps are severe or the babies need a little extra heat, Mel will bring them into the basement for a short time. They nurse about 3 months. You can wean them earlier but we don't. As for clipping the hooves, it depends on the amount of rock you have on your land. On our other pasture site, we never had to trim them but here we do occassionally. As for the ease of raising, they are hard to keep in the fence. It's really just a matter of opinion on which animal is the easiest to raise. And the nibbling - don't know why, but they just like to nibble.

Pygmies are known for multiple births. My Daisy had triplets! They do have singles though. I think they are very easy to raise! I never weaned the triplets, I let Daisy do that.
