I have only made apple juice, but I'd like to try other beverages and also learn how to make mixes for hot chocolate, etc. How about posting some recipes here if you make your own beverages.

I used to make grape juice when we lived at our old place, tons of grape vines there and I sure miss it!

You ever made hot chocolate from cocoa? Mom used to make it that way all the time and it is how I usually make it. One spoon of cocoa and a spoon of sugar in a cup. And a spoon of milk and stir until mixed. Add warm milk and stir. Very simple and good.
I make apple juice too. I wouldn't mind making tomato juice but we don't drink it that much. Now some moo-juice would be nice! I have to get me a dispenser for that! ;) Maybe in the spring we'll get a milk cow. :)

Here's my recipe for Holiday Hot Cocoa - hope you like it!

6 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 c. malted milk powder
7 c. sugar
2 T. cinnamon
1 Vanilla Bean, split in half

Blend all ingredients and let sit for 3 days. Spoon 3 cups into 5 gift jars (or keep it all for your own gang!!) and add these preparation instructions:

1/4 c. of mix into an 8 - 10 oz. mug of hot milk.

NOTE: I like this much better if you heat the milk on the stove first and then add the mix in with a wisk. The first time I made a mug of it, I heated the milk in the microwave and just stirred with a spoon. I had a few clumps of cocoa that didn't dissolve - yuk!! In the saucepan with the wisk, it mixed up great and no lumps! Just be sure your milk is very warm before you add the cocoa mix. My personal preference is to add an extra spoon of malted milk powder to each mug!

This recipe makes a nice Christmas/Valentines Day gift OR will keep your family supplied with hot cocoa mix all winter long! :)

Farmgirl that cocoa recipe looks heavenly! :hurray:

LOL prairie maid, that milk dispenser idea sounds lovely, and I bet it will be a welcome addition to the collection of furry personalities you have.

My grandad had a wonderful Jersey cow when I was little that lived in their pasture, and had such personality.

My aunt used to have girl guide bonfires and marshmallow roasts and this cow was addicted to marshmallows, and she used her lips to steal them off the sticks if the girls looked away or left them in reach.

She was terrified of all hats and one time I remember a hat blew into her vicinity and she took off galloping around the pasture like something possessed.

A cow is one thing I really would like but we live in the city, so it's not possible but I"ve always enjoyed their personalities and outlook on life.

I make hot chocolate mix for the kids and mocha cappuchino mix for DH. I will look into making an instant chai mix after we have a bit more cash to play with, as all of us love that.

Iced teas, lemonade, hot cocoa. When I was a kid, I helped my mom can tomato juice every year.

Sweet tea, lemonade and hot chocolate just like prairiemaid said ;)

Sometimes I get the prepackaged hot cocoa, when I get it free or close to free ;) but we ran out last year or so and the kids wanted hot chocolate so I made it myself.Jackson was so impressed LOL He wonder how I did that with no "mix" lol...I told him mommies are magic :D

Then I started using powered milk to add to store bought milk to stretch it,Jackson seen the gallon half full, when I mixed the powder milk up and poured it in...he said "WOW mommies ARE magic"

I did have a recipe to make a powdered hot cocoa...I know you use, powdered milk, cocoa, sugar and seems like something else, not sure. Then you just add a few spoon fulls to your cup and add hot water. My aunt, her MIL and myself use to make these in LARGE batches. We'd store it in canning jars and give them away.Of course we'd keep a few to :)
