Which do you cook with? Electric, gas or even wood. I use gas. I had never even used a gas stove before I moved to the farm, but now that I have adjusted I can't imagine going back to electric. To me it seems that when you cook with gas you have more control over the heat and degree of cooking. How about you?

Right now I have electric, but for years we used both gas and wood. When we were first married, we used wood all the time, then when dh started working for a propane company and we moved, we purchased a gas stove. I absolutely loved it because you can adjust the heat so nicely.

I'm not fond of electric, but thats what was in the house we purchased.

The only thing I've ever had is electric and I'm happy with it - especially considering the gas rates here (we have a gas water heater and gas heat and the bill each month just for the water heating alone, since we've not had to use the heat, is ridiculous and the rates just keep increasing).

Gas- I lived through a terrible ice storm in '78 and we were so thankful to have a gas cookstove.

We now have a gas stove/oven which I LOVE! I agree with Sunshine, it's great when the electricty goes out as you can light the burners manually (can't use the even though, but that's okay.) Our last house had a fireplace insert and while I wouldn't acutally "cook" with it, I would heat up soup, etc. figuring that as long as it was going why start another appliance. That house had an induction stove top, that was funky. At first I didn't like it, but grew to love it. Electric would be my last choice as it has the least amount of control and the burners smell so bad when something boils over!

We have electric everything. I have always been a bit antsy about gas, but that is probably because I was raised on electric. We also have a kerosene heater for when/if the electric fails so that we can stay warm.

I was really antsy about the gas at first. Mel had to really reassure me that it would be okay. I am still really careful but can't imagine every going back to electric.

We currently have electric because that is what this house had when we moved in. I prefer gas, but I can live with the electric....

Gas isn't available out here so we have electric. Unless I want to have my own tank and use propane but it's VERY expensive. I have cooked on top of the woodstove. It's not a cookstove but just for heating.

DH's family farm is all gas, so I imagine if we end up there in our olden/golden years, I will just have to toughen up and get over the fear of gas. I have heard many people say that once they switched that they'd never go back. They say it heats much warmer than electric.
