Okay it's not exactly what you think. Ryan woke up this morning and said there was a cow mooing outside. I told her that she must have been dreaming, we don't have cows. Later on Mel let the dogs out for their potty time and they both began barking like crazy and acting nuts. Well to make a long story shorter, Mel went outside and guess what - yep, there is a cow in our goat pasture! And its a MAD Cow. With the dogs barking and Mel in the pasture, she was very unhappy and wanted to go home.
Mel went and checked the fence line between our pasture and one that someone rents out that joins ours and could not find out how the cow got into our side. On the other side though, there was a calf pitching a fit, guess that's why mama cow was mad. Mel got in touch with the cow's owner and by the time he got there she mad made it back across the fence. That guy was going to look over the fence line too and try to find her escape route and repair it. Darn, I thought there might be a freezer of beef for me.

Looking at the title of your thread!
That is hilarious! You and the mad cow! they are wonderful at getting themselves into where they shouldn't be.
I was visiting my very pregnant -7 months- sister (with #5 of 6) when she leapt to her feet shrieking incoherently, and tore out in her extreme state of preggo ness to deal with
A cow of theirs that had gotten out, and somehow tipped herself upside down legs up in their ditch. Bad enough being on their backs, but my dsis was explaining the cow would die in minutes due to suffocating from the position, it put her stomach pressing on her lungs.
We had quite a time righting the silly animal with the help of all the kids, me, my sister who kept screaming at the cow, and wailing about how her dh would be so upset to find their milk cow dead when he came home. The kids were shrieking with laughter and the joy of a wild situation and I was trying to calm my sister and encourage the silly cow
We got her toes pointing down, head up and she scrambled up, none the worse for wear
and then I spent the rest of the time, trying to calm my poor sister, who needed a strong cup of tea with sugar, for her nerves and it always amazes me that baby waited another 2 months to be born.

I am laughing so hard I can hardly contain myself. Thanks Pat for that wonderful title and story. I needed a good laugh. And then Margery topped it off, just like putting icing on the cake.
Thanks girls, I really needed that.

ROFL!
I have tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. All this reminded me of a children's book I read to ds the other night about a cow that got itself stuck in a silo (based on a true story!).

Margery, you had me rolling in laughter. I just had the most wonderful visual picture of you and your poor sis and the cow. Shame you didn't get a video of this. It would be worth millions! Glad you all enjoyed our cow story.

Oh cows are worth millions if you could capture these moments. I'm still betting your cow heaved herself over the fence udder flying every which way, in search of better pasture which is all they ever think of. Consequences don't matter to them, till their calf is bawling and they can't quite remember how they got there or what to do next. :icon_lol:

What a couple of great stories! Having grown up on a dairy farm, I too know first hand how they can get out. Ours seemed to always choose the middle of the night....we'd hear car brakes screeching on the road and everybody would have to get up and get them back into the barnyard. I must say though....none of them ever ended up upside down in a ditch!!! That has got to be the funniest cow story I've ever heard!!! :D
