Everytime I look at homekeeping books or Victorian books, they always have birdhouses as decor. I love them, but have never found one in an antique store or one that would suit our home.
How about you, do you use birdhouses at all in your decor?

I have a little tiny miniature one with miniature chimes that is no bigger than my fist all together, but it's not real. I have it out in my sunroom. It's painted with little flowers all over it.

Since I decorate primitive country, birdhouses are included in that decor and I do have a few in my house. I bought a couple little ones from the dollar stores and a few bigger ones from Big Lots, country stores. etc. None of them are antiques or worth anything, I just liked them.

There was a wonderful kitchen decorated in birdhouses in an old copy of Taste of Home that I saw.
Painted sky blue, there was a white picket fence nailed to the wall (she had a long blank wall) with fake silk ivy trailing thru it and above the pickets she had posts or painted posts, and real birdhouses mounted on the wall.
It looked terrific. I would think if you had a long blank wall like that, such as duplex houses often have it would add the charm and interest that such walls need. :icon_bigg

Yes I have a few.... mine aren't antiques either but one looks antique with a rusty wooden roof. I found a few small ones at a garage sale a couple of years back and they sit on my windowsill in my kitchen, with a wooden rooster in the middle.

I have a couple that were just plain that I got at a craft store a few years ago & I brought them home & decorated them myself. Birdhouses are beautiful inside & outside the home:)
