View Full Version : How many bird feeders do you have? smnoel 12-18-2003, 01:38 AM I have 3. One hummingbird one, a regular tube type feeder, and then I hang a thistle sock. Old fashioned mamma 12-18-2003, 02:22 AM We have 2 hummingbird feeders and one Oriole feeder (all put away of course for the winter) and then dh made a feeder that hangs just outside our kitchen window. He and the kids made a couple of bird houses and they'll go up this coming summer. Barefoot Gardener 12-23-2003, 01:30 PM I have 3 regular feeders with blackoil sunflower seed and suet. In the spring & summer add 3 hummingbird feeders. Love my birds. PrairieRose 12-23-2003, 02:11 PM We have a hummingbird feeder that we don't fill anymore because the wasps get all the juice and dh was given a bird feeder for his birthday by his mother. (I think it was for payback though....we have given her 2 lately and I think she wanted him to know how much work it is;) ). CraftyGardener 02-17-2004, 01:01 PM We have lots of bird feeders in the garden ... there are 2 hummingbird feeders for the spring and summer, 2 flat feeders, a coconut feeder, a suet feeder, a peanut feeder, one for just niger seed, 2 for black oil sunflower seed, and 3 for regular bird seed. We also have an old mailbox that sits in the flower garden and we put peanuts in it ... what fun to watch the bluejays going inside to get the nuts. paelthom 02-18-2004, 06:24 PM We only had 1 hummingbird feeder last year, but I hope to get several more this year. Right now we are just feeding the birdies on the deck or out back on the ground. The birds are so funny. They will sit on the deck rails and look in the window at us as if saying "feed me already". calico 02-18-2004, 06:29 PM We have 5. Four that hold mixed seed or sunflowers and 1 hummingbird feeder. duckduckgoose007 02-20-2004, 10:00 PM We have only one bird-feeder right now. The big one broke. We also have a suet feeder. In the spring I have one Hummingbird feeder. Sometimes the Bees & Wasps bother the feeder so much, the Hummers don't come. :icon_conf doodlebug 02-21-2004, 05:30 PM We have two, a regular one and one for the hummingbirds. paelthom 02-21-2004, 11:23 PM I just bought two of those bell shaped feeders that have the seed stuck on them. I can't imagine it working but I'll hang them outside and see what the birds think. I bought them mainly because they were on sale. :mwhistle: Karla 02-25-2004, 07:55 AM So far I have 4, 1 regular seed, a niger seed and 2 humming bird feeders one in front and one in back.. SusieJD 02-28-2004, 01:15 AM We have 5 in our front yard (so we can watch them through the large picture window in the livingroom) a suet feeder and a feeder for the Blue Jays. A large one that I put peanuts in. Both the little red squirrels and the Blue Jays share that. We have 4 feeders in the back wood area. I have several hummer feeders that I put out in the summer here, near where the wild flowers should be coming up this summer. Susie in MN Iowamom 02-28-2004, 02:33 PM We have three regular birdfeeders, two wooden and one in the design of a lighthouse, we also have two hummingbird feeders, luckily we get quite a few of those and this year I want to add a feeder for yellow finch, we are getting quite a few of those around, pretty little birds :) We are also adding birdhouses out there that the kids have made through kits. forestdale 02-28-2004, 11:09 PM I have no bird feeders here. We tend to just throw seeds around and the birds come in and forage for them. Sometimes in the winter, I make up a small feeder of honey, bread and water for the parrots and honeyeaters but "the experts" advise against this as they say it makes the birds too reliant on human food. I believe that birds are smarter than "the experts" give them credit for. Ladies, I've never seen a real life hummingbird and would love to. I belive they're tiny and just hover above their chosen flower to drink the nectar. If anyone has their digital camera ready when they see the next hummer, could you please take a pic for me? Thanks so much in advance to anyone who captures this image. Barefoot Gardener 02-29-2004, 04:06 PM I have no bird feeders here. I'll try and get you a picture of a hummer, they'll be arriving here in May.:) I'd love to see your parrots & honeyeaters. forestdale 03-12-2004, 06:26 AM Thanks Darlene!! I'll try to get pics for you too. I saw a Sacred Kingfisher the other day. I'll keep my eye out for him too. |
