Old fashioned mamma

I asked this at the village, but will ask it here has well. A well known elevator is being torn down in a small town near us. So many of the elevators in our prairie provinces are being torn down to make room, for ugly ones, that don't suit the environment around them and do nothing for the beauty of the prairies.
We've heard of our rain forest in BC being cut down so that BIG businesses can save money.
There are a group of people now saying they will chain themselves to the elevator when the time comes and I know there have been grandmothers who have chained themselves to trees in the rain forest or placed themselves in front of rolling equipment, only to find themselves in jail.
Would you go that far to help save something you felt really strongly about? Why or why not?
