Have you served High Tea? Have you ever wanted to? I think it would be so cool!
smnoel 10-09-2005, 05:18 PM I really love the idea of tea. I'm pregnant now, but before I had just switched from being a coffee person to a tea person. I think there is just something so dainty and beautiful in serving and enjoying tea from teacups and saucers vs. coffee in a mug. I wish I could meet others that would enjoy sharing tea together. It seems people are always rushing to this and that.
mamma24blessings 10-09-2005, 05:53 PM The kids and I occasionally have a tea with scones, finger sandwiches, and other yummies. :) It's a good opportunity for us to work on manners and the art of polite conversation. ;)
I admit, though, that I'm more of a coffee drinker. I usually have coffee with neighbor ladies on Fridays. One of these days, I'll have to shake things up by having a proper tea, but I don't know how it might go over! :gmorn:
Old fashioned mamma 10-10-2005, 04:27 PM Since I stopped drinking Pepsi, I've turned to tea and I'm really enjoying it. I do need to pick up a few nice cups though to drink it in. Dd loves tea. Tea is all that dh drinks, with a few odd Pepsi thrown in.
I'd love to have a few nice teapots too. Do any of you have special teapots.
mamma24blessings 10-11-2005, 05:38 PM The teapot I use most is a "tea for one" pot that sits atop it's matching cup. It's in the "Brown Betty" mode. The little pot brews two cups of tea.
I do have a ceramic "chicken" teapot that I use when I'm brewing tea for more than just me. It's decorated in maroons, yellows, greens, and cream, and has roosters and hens around it. The lid has a rooster on top as the handle. I think it's an 8-cup teapot.
I'm always looking for a "fancy" teapot for cheap. I'd love a blue china teapot. :) So far, I haven't found anyone giving them away, though!
Old fashioned mamma 10-11-2005, 08:59 PM I've seen such pretty ones at antique shops, however the price is so high it's almost unreasonable. I keep looking though.
I've haven't seen many at yard sales. I'm not sure if thats because people drink mo stly coffee now or that they are still using their teapots and unwilling to give them away.
Edna_E 02-21-2007, 05:37 AM I lucked out and got one from an add that someone ran selling her china - dinner, salad, and dessert plates and cups and saucers for 8 and a teapot, sugar bowl, and creamer. It was a pattern I knew and liked, and the price was incredible. I use it frequently, and remember the young lady who needed to sell it and wish her well. It is kind of victorian for most people tastes (covered with red and yellow roses with scalloped gold edges) but it feels so festive that I love it.
runsalot 07-15-2007, 01:48 AM Hi Ladies!
I held a High Tea for a Bridal shower last yr. We had lots of tables set up and I borrowed many different teapots/cups/saucers, plus the dainty lacey tablecloths. We served our tea in "courses". The first one was a Strawberry soup, served chilled, then we had a small wild green salad, followed with all those wonderful little tea sandwiches. Afterwards there were scones, jam and clotted cream in those dear little pitchers. It was so much fun. We played a couple of games here and there, in between courses and the whole things lasted 2 1/2 hrs. We each brought in a recipe on a special card that I sent out with the invites. They were cute little teacup cards and they went into a teacup/victorian recipe book that I bought at the Hallmark store. IT was a blast! It was fun getting all dressed up and behaving ourselves.....for once! hehehe.... Very memorable too. happy weeding, Runsalot
OH yeah! we had about 6 different herbal teas to pick from in the teapots!
Edna_E 07-17-2007, 05:19 PM Hey, we could have a virtual-high-tea. Like define a time, each get at our computers with our tea and goodies, and chat while we enjoy the repast and each other's company. Any takers?
