Do you have quilting memories of your grandmother's quilting or even your mother. Share those memories here with us.
Its sad, but I don't have any memories of any of my family quilting. I remember my great granny having quilts on her beds, but where they came from I don't know. And as far as I know, I'm the first quilter on both sides of my family.
How about you?

I can remember my grandmother saving all the scrap pieces from her sewing projects, then making them into a quilt. She generally just sewed the tops , then took them to a neighbor to be quilted (my grandmother didn't own a lap hoop or anything to do the quilting on). My favorite quilt she made was a hexagon pattern similar to "Grandma's Flower Garden".
I also remember my uncle (married my mom's sister) quilting! He did (and still does) all the quilt from cutting out the material, to doing the hand quilting. He makes beautiful quilts- mostly from scraps of material that people give him- since everyone knows he quilts.

My quilting memories is from spending the night at a cousins. THey had no heat in the upstairs. I recall climbing under the most heaviest quilts ever. I love it. Wonder now if they had a few hooked together. It was so heavy to lift, or was i so tiny? i dont know. But i treasure those moments.

My earliest quilt memories are from my great aunt. I would visit their farm each summer. She always had a quilt on the go. I can remember at least one quilt in every room and on every bed.
