I remember as a child, all the kids had to have a new outfit for Easter Sunday for church. All the girls had new hats and little purses to go along with the new dress and new schools. The boys all wore black pants, white shirts and new shoes (which of course they hated).

I don't see that as much anymore. Do you remember having to wear special or new clothing to church on Easter Sunday?

Oh yes! I remember having to get a new fance dress (and sometimes hat) every year. In the last few years at our church though (we don't live where I grew up) I have noticed that people don't make a big deal about dressing up fancy.

The little girls dressing up for Easter signaled the beginning of spring to me! Even though, as little girls, we only had new dresses while on the farm with grandma, we dreamed of the frilly dresses with the straw hats and white shoes. Easter was made special by an uncle of ours (my father's brother). He made sure that we had Easter baskets.
