I used to make pies all the time, but since we've cut back on sweets and fat content, I've not made one probably in about 6 months.

I always used the crust recipe on the back of Tenderflake lard. You can't go wrong with that crust recipe. It really is an easy recipe and seldom fails if you do it according to the recipe.

Dh loves cherry pies or lemon meringue and I always picked up canned fruit or a box of lemon pie mix. Apple pies I just sliced apples. I also made blueberry pies often.

I might make a few pies again once winter sets in, but not many. I have some blueberries frozen so I'll use those.

here's my secret recipe lol

I got this from a lady Steve pressurewashed for.Her pies were soooooo yummy.
She was an older lady and said the recipe was one her mother used.

5 cups All purpose flour
1 cup crisco or butter
1 T sugar
1 T salt
(1) 12 oz can pet milk

Mix dry ingredients then add milk, let sit in fridge over night.
Roll to desired size and add filling. I fry mine in a electric skillet with a little oil :)

I am so going to try this. I have heard they are just delicious.

Thanks. I haven't baked a regular pie in years. I've said this before, but Gabe's co-worker makes such an awesome pie that we buy them from her for holidays or anytime we want a pie. :o My pies are ok, but to go through making and baking when someone else's is primo...well...lol I just go and buy hers. hehe

Oh my, I love fried fruit pies but have never even tried to make them. Maybe I'll just have to give this recipe a try. Sounds good. Both my grandmas used to make them and they were wonderful. Sara, did you try to make them? If so, was it easy?
