When and how often is right? If mine are lucky ,they get a time release type twice a year. Not much at all during the winter.

View Full Version : How often to fertilize house plants? Barefoot Gardener 10-09-2003, 12:17 PM When and how often is right? If mine are lucky ,they get a time release type twice a year. Not much at all during the winter. Old fashioned mamma 10-09-2003, 03:18 PM Probably some gardeners will croak when they read this, but I don't fertilize my houseplants in any way. When it rains I save some rain water for them and during the winter months, I melt a bit of snow. They thrive on that, along with the watering I do during the weak. I just don't like paying for the fertilizer. One thing I've heard, is if you talk to your plants they do great!!! :D One of the old ladies who lives in our small town swears by it!!! I'm so visual, now I can see Darlene running around barefoot, talking nice to her plants!!! :D summercat 10-20-2003, 10:31 PM I only fertlize them whenever they look like they need a boost & watering isn't enough otherwise I just water.
