Although I can't swim, this is something I've always wanted to do. I'd love to be able to go under water and watch marine life. Its something I won't ever do because of my fear of water though.

Anyone else ever tried it or do it on a regular basis?

I haven't yet. I wear contacts and can't see without them so I need to find a mask that is absolutely watertight or have a prescription mask made. The ocean here isn't that great for snorkeling so I've not been in a huge hurry.

We took dd to Puerto Vallarta Mexico as a graduation present. We snorkeled at Los Arcos (The Arches) an Underwater National Park there. It was alot of fun and we saw lots of beautiful fish! (I hope yall don't mind me always adding pics, I love pictures but if I'm getting on your nerves let me know!)

I've been scubaing and snorkelling since the age of 17. There's nothing in the world like it. I just wish that I could still support the tanks on my back, I'd like to teach DH so that he can enjoy it as much as I did.

This is a picture of my last dive in Mexico:

As a kid, I snorkelled a lot. We had all the gear. It was tons of fun, but I have to say that I swallowed my fair share of water. lol

I liked just diving with the mask more than anything.

Oh, and as far as contact lens go, I wore mine under water. With a very tight fitting face mask. They also make prescription face masks for people who wear glasses, but cannot wear contact lens.

This is something we want to try on vacation next month. I am nervous in the water though. Not a strong swimmer, so I have to get past the "jitters" lol

Ooooh I love to scuba dive and snorkel. Cj, dh isn't a strong swimmer either but he's a certified diver and says that it's much easier to swim under the water than on top of. (if you have a way to breathe that is....lol) You could so do this if you put your mind to it.
