We use to do lots of this every summer. We'd rent a boat and go fishing with the kids. We also owned our own canoe and dh and the kids would often be found on the lake fishing along shore.

We don't have a canoe now, nor have we rented a boat in years. Its something I would really like to do.

Do you do any boating in the summer months?

Dh had a boat and jet ski when we first met and we used to go out on a huge lake that was near where we lived. We sold them before we moved to Maui though and haven't bought either since we moved here. Since we have both the river and ocean here, I think it would be fun to have a boat again, but ds is our main concern. He is soooooooo active that it would be hard to keep him IN the boat! LOL! For now we're content just hanging out on the beach.

When DH and I married, we used the money we recieved to buy a boat. We had lots of good times on that boat. Trips to Canada to fish, evenings after DH's service calls were done, we'd take it out and fish on one of the near by lakes.

We sold it (actually, we gave it away) when we moved from Northern MN. He had hoped to by a fishing boat this season. But, doesn't look like we'll be able to. I love to fish!

Oh me too Susie. Our whole family loves fishing. I can't wait for the ice to go out of the river so once again we can get a fresh feed of fish.

Dh's has a bass boat and used to fish all the Bass Tournaments he could find, usually a different lake each month. Even though he did fairly well, it was too expensive with all the traveling, so he finally gave it up. We still did alot of fishing and camping trips in it until 2 years ago when he blew the motor. We have had many great times in that boat. As of now though, it's an eyesore under the shed because we can't afford a new engine for it, and he can't bring himself to get rid of it....

CJ, I loved to canoe when I was young, so when the boat "died" I talked dh into renting a canoe in a State Park, well......I don't canoe with dh anymore! He's too used to standing up on his bass boat. The 1st time he hooked a fish in a rented canoe, he got so excited he stood up and swamped our canoe. Ever paddle a canoe half full of water back to shore? No fun!
Later that same day we went back out but the very 1st bite on his line caused him to jump up again, and this time he fell completely out of the boat! Ever paddle a canoe with a soaking wet and very unhappy dh, clinging to the side? That's no fun either, although the campers along the shoreline sure seemed to get a kick out of it! We laugh about it now!
The last time we went on a camping trip we rented single person kayaks, we really liked them alot, and dh didn't turn it over once! In fact we are planning to do it again in April!

We have a paddle boat and a bass (?) boat for the lake. We also have a canoe but I avoid that one. I love the paddle boat. I can just get myself to the middle of the lake and relax and be gently rocked by the water. Heavenly! All of Ryan's buddies love to be taken out on the paddle boat as well. I make sure everyone has a life preserver. Mel uses the other boat for fishing when family comes up. I prefer the quiet ride of the paddle boat.
