View Full Version : What animal would you like to have?
paelthom 03-05-2004, 06:46 PM Is there any animal that you don't have but would like to have (within reason)?
I think those alpacas are cute and I'd like to have one of them. I'd also like one of those sheep with the wild horns, Jacobson Sheep I think is their name. I would also like chickens and I do think we will eventually get them at least. Mel just has to build them a lot to protect them from the wild villians in this area.
Oh I'd like to have a zoo if I could. I am fascinated by animals.
Aussie Mamma 03-05-2004, 07:03 PM If dh and ds could have their way (and city/county laws would allow it), we'd clear out every animal shelter of dogs and cats. LOL! I love animals - don't get me wrong - but I'm just fine with the 3 dogs we have now.
Once we get moved to a homestead and have the zoning that allows for other animals, we would like to eventually get a horse (or two), some ducks, maybe some goats, and a couple of cats (especially if we're in a terribly snakey area :yikes: ). One concern though is who would care for all the animals when we go on vacation or need to go out of town for a few days.
I really want a pet dolphin or two :D , but that's not within reason!
Old fashioned mamma 03-05-2004, 07:53 PM A dog.....but right now were waiting for a bit.
If we had an acreage, we'd have a couple horses, a cow and goats. If it was up to dd, we'd have a zoo!!
forestdale 03-05-2004, 08:19 PM I just read an article in our self sufficieny magazine about raising calves and keeping a dairy cow. I'd love to do that. I'd like to buy two guernsey girl babies, about two weeks old and raise them to milkhood. then I'd sell one in calf and keep the other one for milking.
And I'd also like to own every Airedale Terrier on the planet, is that reasonable?
WI Gardener 03-05-2004, 11:19 PM I would like to raise chickens and have a house dog. DH had a dog in the past and had to get rid of it when he got divorced. He thinks we need to wait on the dog until we are more settled in our house. I agree but it would be nice to have another snuggler in bed.

Me too. Getting Dh checking out sites about raising chickens.
We had a mutt and he was such a part of the family & then we had to put him down after 5 years because he had cancer.:( Brought another dog into our hearts & he tried to eat the cat so that didn't work out. Just scared of trying again. Love pooches.
doodlebug 03-06-2004, 01:47 AM I'm hoping to have chickens again sometime soon, a fox destroyed all that we had. I'd love to have another siamese cat but dh says 2 are enough, lol. And I think I'd like to have a donkey, a llama and maybe an old mama cow and a few rabbits. Sometimes we think about getting a dog, maybe in a few years.
maggie 03-06-2004, 06:40 AM I'd love a pig, but DH would like a milking cow. Our property is regrettably suitable for neither! So I guess we'll continue to be happy with the furry & fuzzy friends we are privileged to share our lives with.
WI Gardener, I like that ...."a snuggler in the bed"! We have one of those!
prairiemaid 03-06-2004, 03:28 PM I like having a dog, don't think I'd be without but the 2 we have plus a cat in the house is all I want! Now farm animals is another matter. :D I'd like a milk cow and some sheep. We will get a couple pigs this spring and maybe a beef cow. I enjoy animal husbandry. :)
Michelle 03-06-2004, 07:58 PM I would love to have a dog or cat for my kids, but I'm allergic to both :(
hmsclmom 03-07-2004, 02:27 AM I really really want a pot bellied pig!!!! :icon_wink If we had the room, I'd love to have some chickens, milk goats, a horse or 2 and some pigs.
slowtypinwoman 04-18-2004, 01:45 AM I love my dogs and can not immagine my life without them. I would like to have a horse. They scare the tar out of me, but I'd like to try to conquour that fear.
