A couple of years ago, on another forum, some of us were trying to make a braided rug. I never got mine finished because I found it really hard to sew. (I wasn't feeling well at the time.)

I would really like to try to make another one, using different material this time. I need a couple of rugs for the kitchen, and to purchase them, the cost is ridiculous for the size of rug.

Have you ever braided a rug and did you finish it? What did you make it out of?

This is one of the skills I would love to learn. I love the look of a braided rug. My aunt and uncle make the hooked rugs (old fashioned way) with different scenes, they are breathtaking!!

Thanks for the link! I'm going to check it out. :)

I am completely fascinated with fiber arts, but haven't tried much. I saw directions for a braided rug that didn't seem too complex, but actually doing it...well...that's another story. I would love to try one day.

I like latch hooking, but we all know that's pretty simple. I used to create my own designs on the mesh though and cut all of my own yarn.

I am really interested in rugmaking. I like the rya rugs and would loooove to learn to do that. So, many interests....I have got to actually sit down and do some of these things.

I love the look of braided rugs and have purchased some small ones in years past, but I have never tried to do it myself.

What I found the hardest was sewing the braided strips together. At the time, I was suffereing horribly from fibromyalgia (which isn't near as bad now) and I just could not put the needle through the braids. I really do want to make one though.

Sara, I'm with you are being fascinated with fiber arts. There is so many wonderful things to do, but to find the time, oh to find the time.
