This list is taken from Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Homekeeping. A great guide:

Bathrooms

2 washcloths per person
4 hand towels per person
4 bath towels per person
2 bath mats per bathroom

Bedrooms

2 sets of sheets for each bed
2 pairs of pillowcases for erach bed
2 blankets for each bed
1 quilt for each bed :)
2 bedspreads for each bed
2 mattress pads for each bed

Dining Room

2 tablecloths for everyday use
1 tablecloth for company
12 cloth napkins

Kitchen

6 hand towels
6 dish cloths
6 lint free cloths for wiping glassware

She also says, "At the Dunwoody House we have found this to be the least amount you should have on hand. As you can afford to, buy more."

I am right on with the bedrooms and the diningroom and find that is sufficient. We only have 1 mattress pad for each bed. The bathroom I have WAY too many towels and in the kitchen I have alot more dish towels but like it that way. I seem to use them alot.

~Don't have bath mats
~Have 2 towels per person
~Have 2 hand towels per person
~I have way more facecloths that whats mentioned here. We use a lot of them.

~Have 2 quilts for each person
~Don't use blankets (just quilts) :D
~don't have mattress pads
~Don't have bedspreads (the quilts are used for that function)

~Have 4 tablecloths

~I have more kitchen towels as well, as I seem to be misplacing them all the time. They also seem to need washing often!!

Lets see here:

Bathrooms - have more than this of everything but the bath mats, only have one per bathroom.

Bedrooms - No mattress pads and only 1 bedspread for each bed. Okay on the sheets/pillowcases, blankets and quilts. Probably have a bit more than that.

Dining Room - Only have 1 tablecloth and no cloth napkins. Really should try and get another tablecloth but I just like the one we have. It's dark green and white gingham checks.

Kitchen - Got way more than the suggested amount of hand towels and dish cloths but we go thru them fast. No lint free cloths - who has time to wipe glassware, that's what the drying rack is for. :icon_wink

Well lets see....

Just purchase all new bath towels, face towels and washcloths (8 of each). Our old ones were getting thread bare.

One bath rug...no mats.

Kitchen...15 dish towels.

Masterbedroom - Queen size bed (DH is 6'3"..needs a big bed) 4 sets of flannels and 5 sets linen sheets.
Bedspreads - 2 (one winter and one summer)
Guest bedrooms - 1 queen bed uses same as master.
Guest bedroom 2 - full size bed (my antique Jennie Lynn) 4 sets of sheets and on bedspread.
Mattress pads on all the beds and pillow covers on all the pillows. The pillows are feather.
Electric blankets on all beds. I turn the heat down low at night when we aren't burning wood and when we are burning wood, the fire may go out in the middle of the night...need the warmth for my RA.

Dining room table - 4 table cloths, 6 placemates and 1 table runner

Guess I'm pretty much all set. It takes us forever to use up these things with only the two of us.
