We haven't yet, because I'm not sure what holidays dh will be getting. We definitely will be doing something every other weekend, just to get away and have some family fun time.
What about you?

We don't usually take a vacation in the summer. We will make a mini-vacation of our trip to the homeschool convention this year and we'll take vacation later in the year when dh has to go on a business related trip (just a 4 hour meeting he has to attend and we'll spend another week in the area on vacation).

We don't go away on vacation. Too many animals. To go anywhere takes a lot of planning. We can take day trips or one overnighter and we do that when we can. That is why we put up a swimming pool last year. So we can enjoy our summers at home. :)

We don't usually take vacations either. I would like to take some day trips and overnight trips though. We put a pool in two years ago as well and it's been great for the kids. And with the forecast of a HOT, HOT summer it'll be great this year.

Ryan and I are going to Walt Disney World in May even though she will have to miss 3 school days. Mel will be staying home watching the animals. We haven't planned a family get away for the summer yet. It's hard for all of us to be gone at the same time for more than 3 or 4 days.

I've never been on a vacation. I'm not one to really travel. We do a lot of daytrips in the summer though. No plans for a vacation in 2004. I enjoy being home. :)

I was hoping to get to Michigan to visit with my family this summer, but that doesn't look possible. My DH had an accident (he wasn't hurt) and totaled one of the company trailers. Now the company will be taking an additional $300 a week out of his settlements to pay the deductable of $2500. So it looks like there won't be money for a vacation.
We had planned for him to take a few weeks off the the road to watch our dogs. But with this, there's no way he can.
I'll just lounge around my yard and enjoy the warm air.

We do alot of camping and recently discovered we like canoeing and kayaking, so I'm gonna try a 2 day canoe/camping trip this Spring. We're gonna park the truck and extra gear at a State Park. Then load backpacks and catch a shuttle up river. We will definately spend 1 night camped on a sandbar on the river somewhere halfway back to the park. If we like it we will "re-supply" our packs and continue down river to camp on another bar, before the last take-out and catch the shuttle back to the truck the next day. Of course if everyone hates it we can just stop at the park and camp there. This is kind of a trial run, for a longer trip I'm planning this summer.

We are taking a 3 week trip out west this year - rented an RV (30 foot, class 'C') and have 5 teens (ages 17 to 13) that will be traveling with us. Hoping to cover about 3000 miles without losing my sanity and having any major arguments along the way... is that asking too much?
We have already mapped out the trip - from Indianapolis, to Chicago, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, across Montana to Seattle, Redwood Forest, San Francisco, LA/Hollywood, Reno, Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Kansas, St. Louis, Nashville...
We are planning to travel early in the day while the teens are sleeping, then hoping to stop by 2 in the afternoon. Most days will be driving days (obviously) with only a few times that we will be spending more than 1 night in a location.
It's definately the trip of a lifetime - we are going to be pushing to make it to the coast and back in the amount of time, but that's all the vacation that my husband has... and since our oldest is a senior graduating this year, we felt that this was the time.
Any helpful ideas and tips are welcome!

We will be going to New Hamsphire and Maine again this year. Can't wait as I will be visiting the antique shops up there.

We want to go to Colorado to visit friends this summer. Not sure when it will happen though.
