Life at our little farm just got a bit weirder. We've been seeing something in the water for quite some time but just couldn't get a good look at it. We knew it wasn't the beaver - him we know all too well. Thought it might be a muskrat but after looking it up on the internet we realized it was too sleak for that. So Monday when most of the lake was frozen, our fella popped up and was eating a fish and we got a good look at him. He is an otter - we think. We looked him up on the internet and according to the picture we found, it's an otter. Actually there are 2 of them. Maybe I'll have baby otters come spring. We are thrilled to have him as our lake is over abundant with fish and he will eat some.

All the more reason for you guys to make a trek to VA - need someone to go fishing and we can sit around and watch otters! :)

Oh Pat, Otters are wonderful to watch. We use to go to a park when we lived in the city, and there were otters there. They have such character and charm. Our kids would sit on the grass for hours and watch them. Ooooh I just might come visit. I need to see the flowers and now the otters. :)

We went to a Science Museum years ago when Ryan was small and they had otters outside in a small pond. That is the main thing that Ryan remembers about that place after all these years. I'm hoping they will stay!
